Ringkasan Eksekutif Prarancangan Pabrik Metanol Dari Gliserol Dengan Disain Alat Utama Reaktor Sintesis Metanol
In the current era of the energy crisis, methanol can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels, because methanol is globally easy to produce with clean, sustainable work processes and can be made from abundant resources. Methanol is often referred to as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol or spirit which includes chemical compounds with the chemical formula CH3OH. Methanol is a light, colorless, volatile, flammable, and toxic liquid in the atmosphere. The purpose of this factory design is to meet domestic needs and reduce dependence on imports from abroad, spur the development of the industry with methanol as raw material in Indonesia and provide economic benefits because production capacity is within the limits of profitable production capacity. The location of the methanol plant from glycerol is planned to be in the Dumai industrial area, Pelintung, Medang Kampai district with a factory capacity of 40,000 tons/year. The main tool design is a methanol synthesis reactor (R-202) which functions to produce methanol from syngas. The type of reactor used is a fixed bed multitube with an H:D ratio of 4:1 and is oriented horizontally. Based on the results of the economic feasibility analysis of the factory, a methanol plant from glycerol is feasible with a PBP of 2.93 years, an IRR of 39.24%, an ROI of 24.24%, and a BEP of 40%.
