Pengaruh Konsentrasi Katalis Koh Dan Kecepatan Pengadukan Pada Proses Transesterifikasi Terhadap Yield Biodiesel Dari Minyak Ampas Kopi (Spent Coffee Grounds Oil)
Coffee grounds are used as raw material for making biodiesel because the oil content in the seeds is quite high, around 15-25%. Coffee grounds oil was obtained by maceration extraction using n-hexane. As much as 286ml of oil was obtained from the results of the separation with the rotary evaporator. In this study, esterification process was carried out to reduce the water content and high free fatty acid content in coffee ground oil, the results obtained were the water content decreased to 0.8% and the free fatty acid content was 1.64%. Then, the transesterification process with various catalyst concentrations (1%, 2%, 3%) wt oil, which is varied again with stirring speed (400, 600, 800) rpm. From the results obtained, the best conditions of catalyst concentration is 3% KOH with oil, and a stirring speed 800 rpm recorded biodiesel yield is 30.19%. The biodiesel obtained has met the quality standards of ASTM D6751 and EN 14214 with the characteristics: density 895 kg/m 3, viscosity 4.02 CST, acid number 0.47 mg-KOH/g.
