Degradasi Methylene Blue Dengan Metode Fotofenton Menggunakan Cofe2o4 Sebagai Katalis
ABSTRACT
In the current era, the world is witnessing the social economic revolution of various types of industries, in Indonesia the textile industry is growing rapidly along with population growth. However, industrial progress has an impact that is produced in the form of textile waste. One of them is methylene blue which is a waste that is difficult to be degraded by the environment. The AOP (Advanced Oxidation Process) process is an alternative technique used to remove dyes in water. Photofenton is a combination of photochemical processes and catalysts with the addition of H2O2 to degrade harmful organic pollutants. This research uses CoFe2O4 as a catalyst, CoFe2O4 is one of the spinel ferrite nanoparticles with a narrow band gap (1.9 eV) and is considered as a potential material in photocatalytic processes under visible light. CoFe2O4 was synthesized using the co-precipitation method, in which CoCl2 and C6H5Na3O7 were dissolved with distilled water in the same container, while K3[Fe(CN)6] was dissolved in another container, then the two solutions were mixed and allowed to stand for 12 hours and dried and calcined in another container. tube furnace. The physical properties of the CoFe2O4 catalyst were characterized using an FT-IR analyzer. The peaks of 418 cm-1, 553 cm-1 and 1351 cm-1 indicated the presence of Fe-O, Co-O and Co-OH groups, which indicated success in the synthesis of CoFe2O4 catalyst. CoFe2O4 catalyst can degrade methylene blue with an effectiveness of 99.4% at a concentration of 5 ppm with the photofenton method.
