Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Akrilat Dari Gliserol Dengan Kapasitas 20.000 Ton/Tahun Dan Desain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi Asam Akrilat (D-801)
ABSTRACT
Glycerol is a raw material for the manufacture of acrylic acid which is obtained from one of the side products of crude palm oil processing. Acrylic acid is an intermediate that is widely used in acrylic ester and resin products which are then polymerized to become coating paints, textiles, adhesives, and plastics. The acrylic acid production process generally consists of 3 stages of processing, glycerol pre-treatment, glycerol dehydration and acrolein oxidation. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 20,000 tons/year which will be established in Bangsal Aceh Industrial Area, Dumai City, Riau. The design of the main tool in this plant is an acrylic acid distillation column (D-801) which functions to separate a mixture of separate a mixture of acrylic acid and water. The acrylic acid distillation column (D-801) was operated at a pressure of 1 atm wih an top temperature of 87,875 oC and a bottom temperature og 103,847 oC. Economic analysis in the design of this plant shows that the acrylic acid plant is feasible to build. With a Break Event Point (BEP) of 25,89%, a Rate of Return on Investment (ROROI) of 31,12%, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 20,69%, and a Pay Back Period (PBP) of 4.36 years.
