ABSTRACT
Indonesia has many needs which are still imported from other countries in very large quantities. One of the imported products itself is calcium chloride. Calcium chloride with the chemical formula CaCl2 is one type of salt consisting of the elements calcium (Ca) and chlorine (Cl2). To meet the availability of calcium chloride, Indonesia has to import from abroad due to the unavailability of the calcium chloride industry in Indonesia. In this design, the location of the calcium chloride plant was chosen in Sidoarjo, East Java. It is planned that in 2025 this factory will meet 55% of the domestic demand for calcium chloride products so that the factory capacity is 223,657 tons/year. In the design of this calcium carbonate plant, the process of forming calcium chloride from calcium carbonate and hydrogen chloride is carried out by an acidification process. This process is a limestone synthesis process with hydrochloric acid solution as raw material to produce calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, CO2 gas and water. The purity of the resulting CaCl2 is very high, reaching more than 74%. A Calcium Chloride plant can be classified as a low risk plant by considering the review of the process, operating conditions, properties of raw materials and products, as well as the location of the plant. Based on the economic calculation, the Return On Investment (ROI) obtained is 17.4% and below 50%. Payback Period is 3.9 years. The Break Event Point (BEP) is in the 4th year. The profit obtained by the factory is Rp. 73.765.897 with a total production cost of Rp. 427,976,014,298 and the selling price of the product is Rp.594,068.064.
