ABSTRACT
The isobutylene industry in Indonesia is one of the chemical industries that has good prospects. This isobutylene product has a wide market that is used as an intermediate compound and raw material such as MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), ETBE (Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), antioxidants, fragrance, lubricants, coatings. This final project aims to design an isobutylene plant that can reduce the country's foreign exchange and increase employment opportunities for local workers. The construction of the isobutylene factory will be established for three years in 2022-2025, in the Krakatau Industrial Estate, Cilegon. Isobutylene manufacturing process by dehydration process LyondellBasell produces isobutylene with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year through dehydration reaction of TBA with PTSA catalyst. The results of the economic analysis of the Isobutylene plant design using the LyondellBasell Dehydration Process are (1) BEP (Break event Point) obtained in the design of this plant of 35.557%. (2) ROI (Rate of Investment) obtained in this design is 44.57%. (3) The IRR (Interest Rate of Return) obtained in this design is 22.75%. (4) PBP (Pay Back Period) obtained in this design is 1.74 Years. From the data from the calculation of the economic analysis above, it can be concluded that the Isobutylene plant with the LyondellBasell Dehydration Process is feasible to be established.
