Prarancangan Pabrik Pembuatan Dimetil Formamida Dengan Proses Davy Technology Dengan Disain Alat Utama Evaporator (Ev-101)
ABSTRACT
Dimethyl formamide ((CH3)2HCON) or abbreviated DMF is an organic compound in the form of a colorless liquid that can be mixed with water and most organic liquids. Dimethyl formamide can be used as a solvent in the peptide coupling process for pharmaceuticals, in the peptide production process, and in the production of adhesives, synthetic leather, film coatings, and others. The manufacture of dimethyl formamide uses the Davy technology process by reacting carbon monoxide and dimethyl amine. The reaction for making dimethyl formamide uses sodium methoxide as a catalyst dissolved in methanol. The dimethyl formamide manufacturing process consists of the preparation of raw materials, reaction, salt separation and dimethyl formamide separation. Dimethyl amine is fed into the reactor (R-01) from the mixer (M-01) which has been heated by a heat exchanger (E-101) to a temperature of 120oC and carbon monoxide from the tank (ST-101) at a temperature of 120oC and a pressure of 5 bar. The reactor used in this process is the bubble column reactor. The next stage is the separation stage, which aims to separate the carbonate and formate salts. The separation process uses a settling tank with the product of this separation in the form of salt then dimethylformamide will be forwarded to the evaporator, then dimethyl formamide is purified using distillation to produce dimethyl formamide with a purity of 99%. The main device design is an evaporator which functions to separate dimethyl formamide from carbonate and formate salts. The type of evaporator used is a long tube vertical evaporator. The evaporator operates at a temperature of 153oC with a pressure of 16.623 Psi. The results of the factory economic evaluation showed the PBP value of 1.82 years, IRR of 22.744%, ROI of 42.74%, and BEP of 34%.
