Bleaching Pulp Batang Sawit Bebas Pati Dengan Proses Organosolv Dan Tcf/ Totally Chlorine Free
ABSTRACT
Oil palm trunk is agricultural solid waste that has not been used optimally. Starch-free palm trunks can be used as an alternative raw material for pulp bleaching using the organosolv method and followed by a bleaching process using the TCF method. The purpose of this study was to produce pulp bleaching that took place by organosol and TCF, to determine the brightness and efficiency of pulp bleaching carried out with a single-stage H2O2 solution and to study the conditions of the bleaching process, namely H2O2 concentration, bleaching temperature, and bleaching time on the efficiency and results of bleaching. The experiment for making starch free palm trunk pulp was carried out on laboratory scale in a batch volume of 10 dm3. Experimental variables studied were H2O2 concentrations of 2%, 6%, and 10%, with bleaching time with variations (30, 90, 150) minutes and bleaching temperature (55, 70, 85)℃. From the experimental results, the concentration, temperature and time of bleaching have a significant effect on pulp yield and bleaching efficiency. Bleaching of starch-free palm trunk pulp can be carried out and produces yields of 84-92% and bleaching efficiency of 2.57-15.51.
