Prarancangan Pabrik Isobutil Palmitat Dari Isobutil Alkohol Dan Asam Palmitat Kapasitas 10.000 Ton/Tahun Dengan Desain Alat Utama Scrubber (T-101)
ABSTRACT
Isobutyl Palmitate with the molecular formula C20H40O2 is an organic compound that belongs to the palmitic acid ester and can be used as a platicizer, solvent, and chemical flavour. Currently, Indonesia is still adopting isobutyl palmitate, because there is no obutyl palmitate factory in Indonesia. The Isobutyl Palmitat plant is planned to be built with a capacity of 10,000 tons/year in the JIIPE Gresik industrial area, Kec. Manyar, Gresik Regency, East Java, Indonesia. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days/year with a total workforce of 181 people. In this factory, Isobutyl Palmitate is made through the esterification process of isobutyl alcohol and palmitic acid with a sulfuric acid catalyst. The reactor used is the Stirred Tank Flow Reactor (RATB) at a temperature of 107℃ and a pressure of 1.2 atm. The esterification reaction proceeds in reverse. The resulting conversion in the esterification process using a 90% sulfuric acid catalyst and the reaction lasted for 5 minutes. In addition, the process of making isobutyl palmitate uses double distillation, this aims to obtain a purity of isobutyl palmitate above 90% or more precisely, namely 98.95%.
