Pengaruh Kuat Arus Dan Jumlah Plat Pada Pengolahan Limbah Cair Pabrik Kelapa Sawit (Pome) Dengan Metode Elektrokoagulasi Plat Column Berpengaduk Secara Kontinu
ABSTRACT
One of the wastes produced by palm oil mills is liquid waste in the form of palm oil mill effluent (POME). Before being drained, waste needs to be treated so as not to pollute the environment. There are many POME processing methods, one of which is often used, namely the electrocoagulation method. The research was conducted at the Chemical Engineering Laboratory to process POME by the method of electrocoagulation of the stirred column plate continuously. This study aims to determine the influence of strong variations in current and number of plates on the percentage of COD, BOD, TSS, and pH allowance in POME waste and the optimum conditions of strong current and number of plates on the stirred column plate electrocoagulation device to produce POME waste in accordance with environmental quality standards. This study used variations in current strength (3 A, 6 A and 9 A), and the number of plates (10 plates, 15 plates and 20 plates). The results showed that the strong current and number of plates influenced the elimination of BOD, COD, TSS and pH levels. The influence of strong current and number of plates is directly proportional, the higher or more strong the current or the number of plates given, the higher the allowance value of BOD, COD, TSS levels and the pH of the water decreases. The POME processing process in this study obtained optimal processing for BOD levels, namely from 245.85 mg / L to 5.7 mg / L or an allowance percentage of 97.68% with a strong variation of current 9A and the number of plates 20. For COD, it is from 2,909 mg / L to 310 mg / L or an allowance percentage of 89.34% with a strong variation of current 9A and the number of plates 20. The TSS content in the waste is from 1,085 mg / L to 1.5 mg / L or an allowance percentage of 99.86% with a strong variation of current 9A and the number of plates 20. And able to lower the pH of wastewater.
