Pembuatan Produk Karet Busa Berbasis Lateks Karet Alam Dengan Filler Serabut Kelapa
ABSTRACT
The characteristics of rubber foam are influenced by various parameters, including tensile strenght and density. The purpose of this study was to make and determine the characteristics of foam rubber products based on natural rubber latex with coconut fiber filler. The manufacture of rubber foam is carried out in several stages, namely the process of making latex and mixing of additives (such as zinc oxide, MBTS, stearic acid, sulfur and sodium bicarbonate) and the vulcanization process. Vulcanization was carried out at 100oC, 110oC, 120oC and 130oC for 60 minutes. Parameters tested include tensile strength, elongation, Young's modulus, and specific gravity. The results of this study indicated that the best results were obtained at 100oC, with a tensile strength of 25 N/cm2, an elongation of 109.3%, a Young's modulus of 1 N/cm2 and a density of 0.93 gr/cm3.
