Prarancangan Pabrik Aluminium Sulfat Dari Bauksit Dan Asam Sulfat Dengan Disain Alat Utama Reactor Cstr (R-201)
ABSTRACT
Aluminum sulfate [Al2(SO4)3] is one of the chemicals that indispensable in various industries. Aluminum sulfate is produced by the Dorr process which reacts materials that contains Al2O3 and 77% sulfuric acid with barium sulfate (BaS) as catalyst in a CSTR reactor at 110°C and 1 atm pressure with 78-100% conversions. From the reactor then fed to the evaporator, crystallizer, centrifuge, and rotary dryer to form Al2(SO4)3.18H2O crystals with purity of 98%. The plant is planned to be established in 2025 in Tanjung Hilir, Pontianak District, Pontianak City, West Kalimantan with a capacity of 12,500 tons/year. The main equipment design is a CSTR reactor (R-201) with height of 3.629 m, diameter of 3.2 m, and Carbon Steel SA 283 Grade C material which functions as a place to react bauxite and sulfuric acid which will become a neutralizer reactor’s feed. Total Capital Investment (TCI) is IDR 458,738,043,071 with a Net Present Value is IDR 569,848,073,836. Based on the result of plant’s economic feasibility analisys, IRR was obtained at 16.11%, ROI 22.3%, POT 4.48 years, and BEP at 37.92%.
