Prarancangan Pabrik Urea Formaldehid Dari Urea Dan Metanol Menggunakan Proses D.B Western Dengan Disain Alat Utama Vaporizer
ABSTRACT
Indonesia is one of the countries that continues to encourage the growth of the domestic chemical industry so that it becomes a driving sector for the national economy. One of the important chemical industries is the urea formaldehyde industry. This is because based on a report published by Fior Markets, the global urea formaldehyde market is expected to grow from USD 6,3 billion in 2017 to USD 12,53 billion in 2025, resulting in a 100% increase in market demand. Urea formaldehyde is a resin resulting from the reaction between urea and formaldehyde which belongs to this group thermosetting, which means it is resistant to acids and bases, cannot dissolve and cannot melt. Urea formaldehyde is a universal material that is widely used in various industries such as the textile industry, the paper industry, the shipbuilding industry, the plywood industry andpiece of furnitureas well as to improve the brittleness and water resistance properties. The purpose of the vaporizer is to change the methanol phase from the liquid phase to the vapor phase. The vaporizer output product will be mixed with oxygen and will enter the fixedbed multitube reactor for further processing. A urea formaldehyde plant is planned to be built in the Palembang industrial area, South Sumatra, with a capacity of 20,000 tons/year. The main tool design is a vaporizer which has a height of 7,78 m and a diameter of 0,7 meters. Total Capital Investment (TCI) in the design of the urea formaldehyde plant is Rp. 495,654,129,354. Based on the results of economic analysis, this urea formaldehyde plant is feasible to build with a BEP value of 29%, ROI of 23,61%, IRR of 22,70%, and PBP of 3,06 years.
