Prarancangan Pabrik Aluminium Sulfat Proses Dorr Dengan Desain Alat Utama Crystallizer Aluminium Sulfat (Cr-301)
ABSTRACT
Aluminum sulfate (Al2(SO4)3) is one of the chemicals that is needed in various industries, especially in water treatment processes. The establishment of an aluminum sulfate factory with a capacity of 12,500 tons/year in Pontianak, West Kalimantan is one of the efforts to meet the needs of chemical factories for aluminum sulfate and also to meet the export needs of aluminum sulfate in several Southeast Asian countries. Aluminum sulfate is made using the Dorr process by reacting bauxite natural rock containing alumina (Al2O3) with 77% sulfuric acid. The factory is planned to operate for 330 days a year so that the remaining time is used for shutdown and maintenance and repair of factory equipment. The form of the company chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The major design equipment in this design is the aluminum sulfate crystallizer (CR-301) which functions to form aluminum sulfate crystals. Based on the design results obtained crystallizer specifications with a height of 3.324 m and a diameter of 1.524 m. Based on the economic analysis of the factory, the Break Even Point (BEP) value was 33.3%, the Rate of Investment (ROI) was 38.15%, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) was 25.6% and the Pay Out Time (POT) during 2.62 years so it can be concluded that this aluminum sulfate factory is feasible to build.
