Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Akrilat Dari Gliserol Dengan Kapasitas 20.000 Ton/Tahun Dan Desain Alat Utama Fixed Bed Multitube Reactor (R-602)
ABSTRACT
Acrylic acid is an organic compound in the form of a colorless liquid which is commonly used in many industries such as the diaper industry, the water treatment industry or the textile industry. In the global market, the consumption rate of acrylic acid is expected to reach more than 8,000 kilo tons in 2020. The high demand for acrylic acid is possibly due to the use of this product for new requirement such as raw material for personal care products and detergents. The construction of this plant is planned to fulfil domestic and global requirement (especially Southeast Asia) in 2035 of 20,000 tons/year. The process of making acrylic acid from glycerol goes through 3 stages, namely pre-treatment of the raw material in the form of glycerol as a by-product of the other plant, the process of dehydration of glycerol to become acrolein, and the process of oxidation of acrolein to become acrylic acid. The results of the economic analysis of pre-design of Acrylic Acid Plant from Glycerol are the BEP (Break Even Point) obtained was 26,65%, return on investment (ROI) at 31.121%, the IRR (Interest Rate of Return) obtained was 20.69%, and the PBP (Pay Back Period) from the plant design was 4.36 years. Based on the calculation results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that this acrylic acid plant is feasible to establish.
