Prarancangan Pabrik Pembuatan Butanediol Dari Maleic Anhydride Dan Hidrogen Menggunakan Proses Reaksi Hidrogenasi Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Fixed-Bed Berkapasitas 40.000 Ton/Tahun
ABSTRACT
One of the chemical industry which has important uses and has good prospects is the butanediol industry. Butanediol with the molecular formula C4H10O2 are hygroscopic liquid that is colorless and almost odorless. Butanediol (BDO) is an important element in a long production chain consisting of various intermediates and their derivatives, which are used in a wide range of industries and applications, including electronics, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries etc. The main raw materials used in the butanediol manufacture with hydrogenation process are maleic anhydride and hydrogen. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of 40,000 tons/year which will be built in Cilegon, Banten. The form of the company chosen is a Limited Liability Company with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main unit design at this plant is the Fixed-bed Reactor (R-102) which functions to create reaction dimethyl maleate and hydrogen to produce butanediol. This Fixed-bed reactor operated at 10 atm preasure and a temperature on 230 ⁰C. The economic analysis of this plant design shows that the butanediol plant is feasible to establish. With a Break Even Point value of 55%, Rate of Investment of 36.92%, Interest Rate of Return of 22.735%, and Pay Back Period of 2.07 years.
