Pemanfaatan Limbah Kantong Plastik High Density Polyethylene (Hdpe) Sebagai Bahan Baku Paving Block
ABSTRACT
Indonesia uses an average of 9.8 billion plastic bags annually, and 95% of the plastic bags used become waste. One of the methods to utilize plastic bag waste is as a material for paving block production. This research sought to explore the potential of High-Density Polyethylene plastic bag waste as material for paving block production. The paving block that will be made is a mixture of plastic and sand. Variations made were 100% plastic 0% sand, 80% plastic 20% sand, 60% plastic 40% sand, 40% plastic 60% sand, 20% plastic 80% sand. value. The process-making paving block is plastic waste that was chopped, mixed with sand and in an oven at 140o C for 50 minutes. The results of the test object will be tested for compressive strength and analyzed for its economics. The resulting paving block with the highest compressive strength is obtained from a variation of 100% plastic and 0% sand with an average compressive strength test value of 19.12 MPa. These results are included in the quality category B which can be used as parking equipment. The selling price obtained with a size of 5 x 5 x 5 cm without including the purchase price of waste materials is IDR 400,00 and the price including the purchase price of waste materials is IDR 500.00. Compared to the size of the 20 x 10 x 6 cm paving block, the selling price of plastic paving blocks is IDR 1,700.00.
