Pengaruh Penambahan Kaolin Pada Proses Koagulasi Dalam Penyisihan Zat Organik Dan Warna Air Gambut Dengan Koagulan Aluminium Sulfate (Al2(So4)3)
ABSTRACT
In terms of quantity, peat water has the potential to become a source of clean water. However, in terms of quality, peat water is not acceptable for utilize because of the high content of organic matter and color. The high organic matter and color of peat water make it difficult to treat peat water with the usual coagulation-flocculation process, so kaolin was added in this research. This research aims to determine the effect of adding kaolin to the coagulation-flocculation process using Alum coagulant to remove organic matter and peat water color. The coagulation-flocculation process was carried out at a coagulation speed of 250 rpm for 1 minute and 20 rpm flocculation for 20 minutes with variations in kaolin doses of 20 mg/l, 40 mg/l, 60 mg/l, 60 mg/l, 80 mg/l, 100 mg. /l, 120 mg/l 140 mg/l and 160 mg/l. The results of this research indicate that kaolin is only slightly able to increase the efficiency of color and organic matter removal but is quite effective in TSS removal. While the TDS value increased after the addition of kaolin, even though it still met the quality standards.
