Pengaruh Penambahan Activated Carbon Fly Ash Batubara Untuk Pengurangan Emisi Karbon Dioksida Di Top Soil Mineral

Kayla Aurelia / 1807125013 - Nama Orang;

ABSTRACT
Soil respiration is the main route for the transfer of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from ecosystems to the atmosphere which makes it one of the contributors to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the agricultural sector. Activated carbon can improve the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil and has the potential to be a useful material for reducing CO2 emissions that released from the soil during the respiration process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the addition of activated carbon from coal fly ash with various doses on CO2 emissions in topsoil and comparing the characteristics of activated carbon fly ash with SNI 06-3730-1995 regarding activated charcoal. Activated carbon was filtered through with a 60 mesh and activated using H3PO4 30% for 24 hours. Activated carbon then added to the soil at various doses of 0, 8,10, and 12% with 10 days of incubation time. Activated carbon from coal fly ash produced complies with SNI 06-3730-1995 for moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and iodine number. CO2 Emission from soil respiration rate was measured using the titration method. The results showed that the addition of activated carbon doses could not reduce CO2 emissions from soil respiration; in fact, it could even increase CO2 emissions. This was shown in the addition of a 10% dose of activated carbon, which increased CO2 emissions by 87% during the 6th day of incubation, namely 0.06144 mg CO2/g of soil compared to soil without the addition of activated carbon.
Keywords : soil respiration, CO2 emissions, activated carbon, coal fly ash
