Pemanfaatan Limbah Plastik Styrofoam (Expanded Polystyrena Foam) Dan Bottom Ash Dalam Pembuatan Paving Block
ABSTRACT
The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) conducted research in 18 major cities in Indonesia. The study stated that as much as 270,000 to 590,000 tons of waste entered the Indonesian Sea, of this amount is generally Styrofoam type waste. Styrofoam waste is more dominant because other plastic waste still has economic value. This study aims to Compare the strength of Paving Blocks with variations in the composition ratio of 100% Styrofoam, 75% Styrofoam and 25% Bottom Ash, 50% Styrofoam and 50% Bottom Ash, and 75% Styrofoam and 25% Bottom Ash. Styrofoam is chopped and heated at 150°C for 60 minutes and then mixed with Bottom Ash. The results of the compressive strength values obtained are test code A of 8.26 MPa, test code B 15.33 MPa, test code C 12.26 MPa and test ode D 4.13 MPa. The best Paving Block compressive strength was generated in the B test code with a composition variation of 75% SF and 25% BA of 15.33 MPa and the lowest compressive strength value in the D test code with a composition variation of 25% SF and 75% BA of 4.13 MPa.
