Appendicitis is the number one case of surgical emergency and one of the most common causes of abdominal pain, especially in children. Appendicitis occurs because of the blockage of the lumen of the appendix caused by the corpus alienum, a viral, bacterial infection, and rarely by a tumour of the appendix or the caecum that causes the accumulation of lumen content causing inflammation and perforation. Appendicitis can be influenced by age, gender, family history, and a low-fiber diet. The study aims to find out the overview of the risk factors of appendicitis in the RSUD Arifin Achmad Children's Surgery Department of Riau Province from January 2020 – December 2022. According to the family history, most patients had a family history of 29 patients (61.7%). According to a high fiber diet, the majority consume fiber below the RDA based on age with 30 patients (63.8%) and often consume fast food with 32 patients (68.1%).
