Pengembangan Aplikasi Pemrograman Berbasis Python Untuk Analisis Struktur 2d Menggunakan Metode Elemen Hingga
At present, there are many applications that facilitate users in analyzing problems, especially in the field of engineering, such as Inventor, Solidworks, Abaqus, and so on. However, these commercial applications come with a relatively high cost, heavy software size, and strict licensing rules. This, of course, raises concerns for users, especially mechanical engineering students at the University of Riau.This issue inspired the author to design and create a structural analysis application that can serve as an alternative for analyzing structural problems. In the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Riau, there is already a structural analysis application developed earlier. It includes an application for calculating nodal displacements caused by concentrated loading on various two-dimensional (2D) structures such as trusses, beams, and frames. The further development involves providing an application that not only analyzes structures subjected to concentrated loads but also analyzes structures subjected to distributed loads for two-dimensional truss, beam, and frame structures.This application employs the Finite Element Method (FEM) technique. The application will be designed using the Python programming language with modules such as numpy and tkinter. As for the title of this research “Development of Python-based Programming for 2D Structural Analysis Using Finite Element Method”. Based on the simulation results of the developed application, it demonstrates an overall difference close to 0% compared to manual calculations, analytical calculations, and previous research results. Thus, it can be concluded that the application has a high level of accuracy and functions well.
