Morfologi Cherax quadricarinatus dari Sungai Katoman dan Danau Ali Provinsi Riau
Cherax quadricarinatus inhabits the Katoman River and Ali Lake that have different types of ecosystems, as the water in the river is running while that of the lake is static. The water condition may affects the behavior as well as body shape of the lobster. A study aims to compare the morphology of C. quadricarinatus both locations was conducted in July-August 2023. Lobster samplings were carried out once a week, for a month period. The lobster was captured using net fish traps with 0.5 inches mesh size. The morphological and meristical characteristics of the lobsters caught were then investigated. Results shown that there were differences in 13 morphometric characters. Lobster from the Katoman River has longer total length, telson, 2nd uropod and 3rd leg. While the lobster from Ali lake has longer carapace ocular, cephalon width, chest width, carapace width, abdomen, telson width, maximum abdominal width, 1st and 2nd legs. However, there was no difference in meristical characteristics, but the lobsters from the Ali Lake have darker body color and larger abdominal part.
