Energy security is a critical global issue. The international community's awareness of energy security is increasing, recognizing energy as the driving force behind all life activities in every sector, making it crucial. Premier Oil Natuna Sea B.V., as one of the foreign oil and gas companies in Indonesia, bears responsibility for its influence and threats to Indonesia's energy security.
The purpose of this research is to understand how the collaboration between Premier Oil Natuna Sea B.V and the Government of Indonesia influences energy security and its resulting impacts. Based on analysis using official documents, literature reviews, and interviews with relevant stakeholders, employing a descriptive research method, this study describes the phenomenon of oil and gas cooperation in exploration, production, and exploitation by Premier Oil Natuna Sea B.V as a Multinational Corporation (MNC) from the UK towards Indonesia's energy security.
The research findings indicate that this collaboration has positively contributed to Indonesia's energy security through various efforts, including increased oil and gas production, technology transfer, infrastructure development, and strengthening relations between the private sector and the government. However, challenges such as regulatory changes, fluctuations in global oil prices, and environmental issues exist. Therefore, it is recommended that this collaboration be further strengthened and well-managed to ensure the sustainability of Indonesia's energy supply in the future.
