Analisis Posisi Indonesia Di Dewan Ham Pbb Pada Kasus Pelanggaran Ham Berat Etnis Muslim Uighur Oleh Pemerintah Tiongkok
MUHAMMAD FARHAN SUREZ, NIM 21100247645. ANALYSIS OF INDONESIA'S POSITION AT THE UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL ON THE CASE OF GROSS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS OF THE UYGHUR MUSLIM ETHNIC BY THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT, supervised by Yessi Olivia and Yusnarida Eka Nizmi.
Indonesia's decision to choose to reject the draft motion for debate on the situation of gross human rights violations against Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang ironically is in direct contrast to the status of Indonesia itself. Indonesia, which holds the title of the largest Muslim country and has the largest Islamic organization in the world, should choose policies that mutually support the interests of the Muslim community in the international arena. Indonesia as a country whose constitution is based on anti-colonialism and anti-oppression solidarity should choose to implement policies that are in accordance with anti-colonial values themselves, because the fact of human rights violations committed by the Chinese government against the Uighur Muslim ethnic minority is a fact that cannot be ignored and ruled out.
This article aims to explain the reasons for Indonesia's rejection of the proposed draft. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method approach. Data was obtained through interviews, document analysis from official websites, books, journals and news. This research uses a constructivist perspective.
The results of this research show that there are four main factors that made Indonesia reject the proposed draft law, namely: 1). domestic problems 2). past experiences regarding human rights violations and inconsistent behavior of human rights enforcement mechanisms 3). economic pragmatism, and 4). US-PRC political bloc competition and politicization of the issue of human rights violations.
