Karakteristik Arang Aktif Dari Limbah Ampas Tebu Dengan Menggunakan Konsentrasi Asam Klorida (Hcl)
This research aims to obtain the characteristics of selected activated charcoal made from sugarcane bagasse waste and hydrochloric acid as an activator. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study was hydrochloric acid concentration of A1 (5% HCl); A2 (10% HCl); A3 (15% HCl); A4 (20% HCl) and A5 (25% HCl). The data obtained were analyzed statistically using IBM SPSS version 23 statistical software with analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, if Fcount ≥ Ftable then the treatment had a significant effect and the analysis was continued with a further Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that increasing the concentration of hydrochloric acid used had an influence on the activated charcoal produced. Activated charcoal with the best treatment was found in treatment A5 (25% HCl) with a water content of 2.84%, ash content of 5.61%, and volatile matter content of 9.26%. The bound carbon content was 82.31% and the iodine absorption capacity was 867.15 mg/g-1.
