Studi Pemasangan Umpan Pada Alat Tangkap Bubu Naga Di Desa Permai Kecamatan Rangsang Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
This district has an area of 3,707.84 km², geographically the Meranti Islands district is at latitude 1o25'36"- 0o40'0"N and 102o10'40"- 103o14'0"E. Pemai Village is a village at the tip of Rangsang Island, which is flanked by two straits, namely the Malacca Strait and the Black Water Strait, with a water area of 878.42 Ha. The types of fishing gear used by the people of Permai Village are various, such as longlines, gombang, dragon traps and gill nets. Dragon traps include fishing gear that is categorized in the trap group. The operation of the dragon trap is usually carried out in the morning and evening by placing it in a body of water. This dragon trap has an elongated shape, where fish can easily enter but cannot get out because it is blocked by the entrance which is shaped like a funnel. In the operation of the dragon trap, the main catch target is shrimp, but not infrequently other fish are also caught. So far, the operation of dragon trap fishing gear in Permai Village does not use bait. When conducting research using free-range chicken gut bait on 1 dragon trap fishing gear and 1 dragon trap fishing gear without bait, there may be differences in catch results. The method used is a survey method, which involves direct interviews such as collecting catch data in the fishing area and participating in operations. The catch of dragon traps based on individuals (heads) using bait is greater in number than without using bait. Based on data on catches during the research in terms of number of individuals (heads) and weight (grams) after being tabulated in tables, graphs and diagrams, it can be concluded that the catches have significant differences. During the research, the catches of dragon traps using bait were higher in terms of weight (grams) and individuals (tails).
