Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Tereftalat Proses Amoco Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Asam Asetat (T-301)
ABSTRACT
Terephthalic acid is an organic compound commonly used as a raw material in the production of polyester terephthalate, polyester filament yarns, and also in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is widely used in various products such as plastic containers for beverages and food, electronic devices, textiles, industrial fiber production, and multimedia equipment. This preliminary design aims to meet the domestic demand for terephthalic acid, increase national revenue through exports, open opportunities for various downstream industries using terephthalic acid as a raw material, and create new job opportunities. The plant is planned to be located in the Tenayan Industrial Area, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, with a production capacity of 250,000 tons/year. The main equipment chosen is the acetic acid distillation column, which functions for the recovery and recycling of acetic acid (solvent). Economic feasibility analysis showed that this terephthalic acid plant met the requirements for establishment, with a payback period (PP) of 4.58 years, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 25.18%, a return on investment (ROI) of 21.84%, and reached the break-even point (BEP) in the fourth year.
