Pengembangan E-Lkm Berbasis Nature Of Science Pada Mata Kuliah Kimia Organik Ii Materi Polimer Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Dan Komunikasi Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia
This research is motivated by the need for Nature of Science-based teaching materials that can help students understand polymer material in organic chemistry courses. Based on findings in the field, Organic Chemistry is one of the courses that is difficult to understand the material. One of them is polymer material, especially about the mechanism of polymer polymerization reactions. Critical thinking and communication skills are one of the important abilities that individuals must have in the 21st century to analyze problems encountered in everyday life. The purpose of this study is to produce E-LKM based on Nature of Science in Organic Chemistry II courses on polymer material to improve students' critical thinking and communication skills. The method used is the Research and Development (R&D) method, with the ADDIE model, which consists of 5 phases, namely the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation phases. Data collection techniques use interviews, questionnaires, validation sheets and observation sheets. Validation was assessed by 6 experts, namely 3 material experts and 3 media experts. Small-scale trials were conducted using 2 methods, namely one-on-one trials involving 3 students and user responses involving 3 Organic Chemistry lecturers and 20 students. The research design in large-scale trials is One Group Pretest-Postest Design.
The results showed that the E-LKM that had been developed obtained an average percentage of material experts of 93% and media experts of 97% with very valid criteria; one-on-one trials received comments and input from students; user responses, namely lecturers and students, received a percentage of 91% and 90% with very good criteria. In large-scale trials, data on critical thinking skills before and after using E-LKM and data on students' communication skills at each meeting were obtained. The paired t-test on critical thinking skills data obtained a significance value of 0.000 (sig 0.05). This means that there is no significant difference in students' communication skills reviewed from meetings 1, 2 and 3.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the E-LKM produced is stated to be very valid, gets a good response from users and has an effect on critical thinking and communication skills. However, communication skills do not have a significant effect.
