Mangrove snail (Telescopium telescopium) or blongan is an animal from the Potamididae family that lives in brackish water on muddy bottom substrates and is influenced by tides (Radjasa et al., 2011). The basic longline is a passive fishing gear, categorised as environmentally friendly fishing gear because the catch is selective in terms of the size caught, this fishing gear consists of parts of the main rope, branch rope, fishing line, float and sinker. the length of each main rope of the basic longline is usually about 750 metres, the branch rope is 1.5 metres, and the distance between the installation of the branch rope is 4-5.5 metres, these sizes vary according to the size of the target, the density of the fish group, and the condition of the water. The principle of the fishing method using bait is to try to lure fish with something as prey, namely in the formof smell, taste, movement, shape, and colour of the bait which is a stimulus that can attract fish. bait stimuli can attract fish that are in a distant place to be attracted closer to the source of stimulation (bait).
The research was conducted in the waters of Selat Suir, Banglas Village using different mangrove conch and lomek fish with 7 days of fishing using a basic longline that has 100 fishing eyes with 50 eyes using mangrove conch bait and 50 eyes using lomek fish bait. The fish catches obtained are demersal fish which generally live in areas near the bottom of the water. Descriptively lomek fish bait obtained a better catch with the composition of the catch, namely with 6 types of fish species consisting of belukang fish, malung fish, thorn fish, stingray, white snapper and puffer fish, with a total weight of 36.1 kg consisting of main catch in the form of stingray, white snapper, malung fish, belukang fish, then by catch in the form of thorn fish and discard in the form of puffer fish.
