Karakteristik Arang Aktif Dari Cangkang Biji Karet Dengan Variasi Konsentrasi H3po4
Rubber seed shells are plantation waste that can be used as raw materials for activated charcoal. Activated charcoal was made by carbonization and activation processes. This research aimeds to obtain the best concentration of H3PO4 as an activator in making activated charcoal from rubber seed shells. The research was conducted experimentally used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatment in this research used variations in H3PO4 concentration, namely A1 (H3PO4 5%), A2 (H3PO4 7.5%), A3 (H3PO4 10%), and A4 (H3PO4 12.5%). The observations parameter tested included moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, bound carbon content, and iodine absorption. The data were analyzed statistically using the analysis of variance, if Fcount ≥ Ftable then the treatment had a significant effect and the analysis continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that increased H3PO4 concentration had a significant effect on all observations parameters. Activated charcoal with the best treatment was found on A4 treatment (H3PO4 12.5%) with a moisture content of 2.36%, ash content of 5.63%, volatile matter content of 15.06%, bound carbon content of 74.87%, and iodine absorption of 866.09 mg/g.
