Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Sosial Terhadap Pembentukan Karakter Mandiri Remaja Di Desa Sibuak Kecamatan Tapung Kabupaten Kampar

The problem formulation in this study aims to (1) determine the level of independent character development among adolescents in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency (2) to determine the level of social media usage in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, and (3) to find out whether there is an influence of social media usage on the formation of independent character among teenagers in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency.
The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive data analysis, hypothesis testing, and examining the influence of social media usage on the formation of independent character in adolescents. Based on the analysis of demographic factors, the formation of independent character among adolescents in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, obtained a high result with a mean of 3.75. Then, based on descriptive analysis by variable, the level of independent character formation was obtained with a mean of 3.75, which falls within a high estimate.
Based on the analysis of the respondents' demographic factors by variable, the level of social media usage was obtained with a mean of 3.67, which falls into the high estimation category. Based on the descriptive analysis by variable, the existing social media usage was obtained with a mean of 3.66, which also falls into the high estimation category.
A significant influence was obtained between the variable of social media usage (X) and the formation of independent character (Y) among adolescents in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, with an influence magnitude of 46.80% interpreted as moderate, because there is still 53.20% determined by other factors not included in this study.
The conclusion of this research is 1) The level of character formation among adolescents in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency is 3.75, which is interpreted as high, meaning that the high use of social media can have a direct influence on hedonistic behavior, 2) The level of social media use in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency is interpreted as high at 3.67.
There is an influence of social media use (X) on the formation of independent character in adolescents in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, amounting to 46.80% with a moderate interpretation, because 53.20% is still determined by other factors that are not part of this research.
