Uji Toksisitas Akut Infusa Daun Aren (Arenga pinnata) Pada Tikus Putih Wistar (Rattus norvegicus)
Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is one of the plants that thrives in Indonesia, all of the plants ranging from stems, leaves, fruits, palm trees, which are produced can be used for human purposes. Based on previous research, there has been no research on the safety of the use of palm leaf infusion as a traditional medicine. To ensure safety in its use, it is necessary to conduct a toxicity test. The purpose of this study was to determine the acute toxicity level of palm leaf water extract in rats with an LD50 value and provide scientific information regarding the classification of toxicity. In the acute toxicity test using the Thomson-Weil calculation method and rats as experimental animals, as many as 25 rats were grouped into 5 groups. The control group was given aquades, while the treatment group was given palm leaf infusion with doses of 4%, 8%, 16%, and 32 %. The administration of extract and aquades solutions uses gastric sonde and is given a single dose. This show that palm leaf infusion (Arenga pinnata) does not cause death at the lowest dose or the highest dose. Classified as practically non-toxic. This is evidenced by the absence of death at the dose of 1600 mg/kgBB. The conclusion from the results of the research that has been carried out is that palm leaf is included in the category of practically non-toxic compounds and has an LD50 >32 % range.
