An Analysis Of English Teachers’ Digital Competence At Dar El Hikmah Islamic Boarding School Pekanbaru
This study analyzes the digital competence of the English teachers at an Islamic boarding school in Pekanbaru, focusing on six aspects: professional engagement, digital resources, teaching and learning, assessment, empowering learners, and facilitating learners’ digital competence. This research used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand the challenges and experiences faced by teachers in integrating digital technology into the teaching and learning process. The results indicate that teachers frequently use digital resources and technology in lesson planning, teaching process, and student assessments. However, they face challenges in empowering and facilitating students due to limited facilities and strict school rules that prohibit the use of electronic devices by students. In terms of professional engagement, teachers are only slightly involved in professional development activities related to digital skills. Based on these findings, the digital competence of English teachers at the Islamic Boarding School can be categorized as "integrator" (B1) or "medium" level. While some aspects of digital technology have been implemented, further support is needed to optimize digital learning. Recommendations are given to teachers and schools to improve digital competence through training and the provision of adequate facilities.
