Perkembangan SMA YLPI Kota Pekanbaru (1984 – 2023)

This research discusses the history and development of YLPI Pekanbaru High School as one of the first private schools in Pekanbaru City to implement Islamic religious education to its school members. The aim of this research is to determine the history, development, and driving and inhibiting factors of the development of YLPI Pekanbaru High School. This research was carried out using a historigraphic approach or historical method with stages of heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiographic writing. The general result of this research is that there is a spirit of ideals based on the Al-Qur'an and Hadith by H. Soeman Hs, H. Zaini Kunin and Malik Rasyad who are called the founding fathers to form Islamic educational institutions in Riau, especially in the city. At that time, Pekanbaru did not yet have a high school based on Islamic education. With limited funds at that time, YLPI established YLPI Pekanbaru High School in the same building as YLPI's Riau Islamic University Faculty of Agriculture building. After introducing high schools with Islamic religious-based education to the community, YLPI Pekanbaru High School began to develop over time with many local people starting to register their children at YLPI Pekanbaru High School. Of course, the journey of YLPI Pekanbaru High School from 1984 to 2023 has experienced many developments. However, it cannot be denied that this development sometimes experiences unexpected obstacles in line with developments in time and education.
