Executive Summary Rancangan Pabrik Ammonia Dari Natural Gas Proses Topsoe Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Methanator (R-105)
ABSTRACT
Ammonia is a raw material in fertilizer production. Ammonia is produced by reacting synthesis gas containing H2 and N2 with a ratio of 3: 1. Synthesis gas contains inert gases that do not react such as Argon, in addition to H2 and N2. H2 gas comes from hydrocarbons found in natural gas and N2 gas from free air. Natural gas used as raw material for production before being processed into ammonia products will be purified from impurities that can interfere with or damage product equipment. The ammonia production capacity uses the Topsoe process from natural gas with a production capacity of 270.000 tons/year. The ammonia factory, the factory location was chosen in the Kariangau Industrial Area, Karingau District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. Water requirements, the location of this factory is passed by the PDAM flow and the presence of Balikpapan Bay makes the water needs for the factory very sufficient.
In the design of this ammonia factory, the water used as a utility system functions as process water, steam, cooling water, and domestic water. The electricity needs of this factory have been supplied by PLN provided by the Kariangau Industrial Estate, namely the Kaltim Teluk PLTU. In the chemical production process, in addition to producing products with economic value, a factory also produces waste. The waste processing must be in accordance with the quality standards of wastewater according to the wastewater disposal requirements referring to Law 32 of 2009 article 20. The control process involves operating units that must be monitored and controlled to ensure an optimal control system by considering control objectives, considerations for sensor selection and selection of controlled variables, manipulated variables, and disturbances.
The results of the factory's economic analysis show a Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. 700.187.994.984, Return on Investment (ROI) of 16,59%, Payback Period (PBP) of 6,22 years, and Break Even Point (BEP) at a production capacity of 73,85%. From the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the triacetin factory is feasible to be established.
