Struktur Dan Komposisi Tegakan Hutan Mangrove Di Wilayah Sungai Merambai Kelurahan Teluk Belitung Kecamatan Merbau Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
ABSTRACT
Mangrove forests are very important for society and the environment. The
Merambai River mangrove forest in the Meranti Islands Regency plays an
important role in protecting the coast and has the potential for ecotourism
development. This study aims to determine the structure and composition of
mangrove forest stands in the Merambai River mangrove area in the Meranti
Islands Regency. Data collection used the path method with a Continuous Strip
Sampling pattern and a sampling intensity of 2.5%. The number of research plots,
as many as 35 plots, spread over 7 paths, made perpendicular to the coastline, with
a length of 50 m and a width of 10 m. Sampling plots were made along the path
with dimensions of 10 x 10 m for trees, 5 x 5 m for stakes, and 2 x 2 m for
seedlings. The parameters observed were type, density, distribution, diameter stem,
branch-free height, total height, and environmental conditions, namely: tides,
salinity, mud sedimentation, temperature, and air humidity. The results showed
that the structure of the Merambai River mangrove forest stands was classified as
normal, consisting of 5 species belonging to 3 families, namely: kedabu
(Sonneratia ovata), white pidada (Sonneratia alba), berembang (Sonneratia
caseolaris), api-api (Avicennia alba), and oil mangrove (Rhizophora apiculata).
The most dominant type was white pidada with an INP value of 185.83% for the
sapling level and 171.82% for the tree level. The seedling level was dominated by
oil mangrove with an INP value of 115.67%. The levels of diversity, species
richness and species evenness in the Merambai River mangrove forest are
classified as low, with the respective indices at the tree level being 0.85, 0.17, and
0.17.
