Feeding ecology ikan teplusok (Luciocephalus pulcher) dari sungai sibam kota pekanbaru
Luciocephalus pulcher inhabits the Sibam River, Pekanbaru. The fish was available when there were many vegetations present in the bank of the river, but it was rare when there was no vegetation. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the presence of vegetation on the riverbank and the presence of the fish and also to determine the type of food eaten by the fish, a study was conducted on May to July 2024. The fish was captured from the Sibam River and then their stomach contents were analysed using a volumetric method. The stomach content was identified using a dissecting microscope Olympus SZ51 and then the Preponderance Index was calculated. Results shown there were 32 fishes were captured. The highest number of fish was captured in St 1, an area with relatively dense vegetation in the river bank, while in the area with no vegetation, the number of fish captured was 2. The stomach content analysis shown that insects (85%) as a main food of this fish, while the additional food was fish (8%) and crustaceans (7%). Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the presence of vegetation with twigs and leaves overhang the water was related to the presence of L.pulcher and the fish was a carnivorous fish.
