Analisis Kemiskinan Multidimensi Di Kota Dumai Provinsi Riau Tahun 2023
ABSTRACT
Poverty is a condition of severe deprivation that often occurs in developing countries. Indonesia is among the 100 poorest countries in the world, with a total of 25,898,550 people living in poverty. Dumai City, as a strategic industrial area that plays a significant role in the Riau Province economy through its manufacturing sector, had 10,150 people categorized as poor in 2023 based on the monetary approach according to BPS (Central Statistics Agency). Meanwhile, the non-monetary measurement recorded 9,964 poor households comprising 43,098 individuals. The non-monetary approach provides a more specific measurement of poverty; therefore, this study aims to analyze the level of multidimensional poverty in Dumai City, Riau Province. The research was conducted from September 2024 to May 2025 using a quantitative descriptive method. The data used were secondary data sourced from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs. The data analysis techniques employed include descriptive analysis, the Alkire-Foster method, and Spearman rank correlation. The findings show that the highest deprivation among households occurred in three indicators: stunting risk, continuity of education, and quality of house wall materials. The Alkire-Foster analysis revealed that the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in Dumai City in 2023 was 0.031011 or 3.10%, with households experiencing deprivation in 4 to 5 indicators. The Spearman rank correlation analysis found that 9 out of 11 indicators had a negative and significant relationship with multidimensional poverty. Meanwhile, the indicators of roof type and cooking fuel were found to have no significant correlation with multidimensional poverty.
