Pengaruh Terpaan Konten Tren Marriage Is Scary Di Tiktok Danekspektasikarirterhadapkeputusan Menunda Pernikahanpadagenerasimudadikota Pekanbaru
The decision to postpone marriage has become an increasingly common social phenomenon among the younger generation, influenced by various factors including media influence and career expectations. This study refers to Cultivation Theory to analyze how exposure to the Marriage is Scary trending content on TikTok and career expectations influence the decision to postpone marriage. With the increasing negative narrative about marriage on social media and individual priorities for career stability, this study aims to identify the magnitude of the influence of these two factors on the younger generation in Pekanbaru City.
This study uses a quantitative method with an explanatory approach and a questionnaire is used as the main instrument in collecting data distributed online to respondents who are young people in Pekanbaru City whose number is unknown. In determining the sample using the Lemeshow formula with a total of 100 respondents using the snowball sampling technique. This study was processed and analyzed using the IBM SPSS Version 29 program.
The results of the study show that partially, exposure to the Marriage is Scary trending content on TikTok (X1) has a positive and significant effect on the decision to postpone marriage (Y) with a percentage of 41%, while career expectations (X2) have a greater influence, namely 65%. Simultaneously, these two variables have an influence of 55%. This finding indicates that social changes influenced by digital media and priorities for career achievement are the main factors in the decision to postpone marriage.
