The purpose of this study is 1) To measure the level of Loneliness in the
elderly at UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah. 2) To measure the level of
Homesickness in the elderly at UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah. 3) To find out
and analyze whether there is an Influence of Loneliness on Homesickness in the
elderly at UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah.
This type of research is ex-post facto, which is a type of research whose
independent variable is an event that has already occurred. According to
Sugiyono (2010:7) ex-post facto is a research conducted to examine past events
and then look back to find out the factors that can cause the event. So this type
of research was chosen because the researcher intended to reveal how much
influence the independent variable (Loneliness) has on the dependent variable
(Homesickness).
The approach in this study is a quantitative approach, namely research
where the data obtained is related to numbers that cause the use of statistical
analysis techniques. This study aims to provide a systematic description of the
ongoing situation on the object of research, namely the Effect of Loneliness on
Homesickness in the elderly at UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah
Data Collection Methods in this study are: 1) Documentation, Documentation is
a record of past events. Documents can be in the form of writing, pictures, or
monumental works from someone, 2) Observation, observation techniques are
carried out at the beginning of the preparation and while this research is taking
place, 3) Questionnaire, Questionnaire is a data collection technique carried out
by giving a set of questions or written statements to respondents. A list of
statements made in a simple form with a closed statement method given to
respondents so as to obtain data on the Effect of Loneliness on Homesickness in
the elderly at the UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah.

The data analysis techniques used in this study are descriptive statistical analysis
and inferential statistical analysis and were carried out using Microsoft Excel
and SPSS version 25 for Windows. Descriptive statistical analysis to display
respondent data in the form of mean and standard deviation of questionnaire
results based on respondent demographics, variables, indicators and
questionnaire items, then inferential analysis is used to determine the presence
of indicators as factors in the research variables.
The conclusion of this study is 1) the results of the study indicate that the
level of Homesickness in the elderly at the UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah, Riau
Province Social Service is relatively high, with an average value of 3.70 which
is in the high category. This Homesickness, which includes longing for home,
anxiety, feelings of isolation, sadness, 2) the results of the study indicate that the
Level of Loneliness in the elderly at the UPT PSTW Husnul Khotimah, Riau
Province Social Service. with an average value of 3.73 which is included in the
high category. This Loneliness, which includes social alienation, feelings of
being ignored, loss of close relationships, emotional emptiness, 3) the results of
this study indicate that loneliness influences homesickness, with a contribution
of 55.5% and a correlation of 0.745 which indicates a moderate influence.
