Gambaran Persepsi Mahasiswa Profesi Dokter Terhadap Keselamatan Pasien Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Patient safety is a global issue that affects public trust in healthcare. In Indonesia, the high incidence of medical errors highlights the need for greater attention to patient safety, including in the education of medical students. This study aims to describe the perception of medical students on patient safety at RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru. A descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 73 medical students from the University of Riau as respondents. Data were collected using the Medical Student Safety Attitudes and Professional Survey (MSSAPS) questionnaire. The results show that the majority of students (82.2%) have a positive perception of patient safety, while 17.8% have a negative perception. The aspect of teamwork received the highest positive rating (78.1%), while error reporting received the lowest rating (71.2%), reflecting barriers in reporting due to concerns about stigma or sanctions. The aspects of safety culture (75.3%) and safety behavior (72.6%) were also rated positively, although there were still negative perceptions among some respondents. In conclusion, while the majority of perceptions on patient safety are positive, challenges remain in error reporting and safety culture. Training programs and a secure reporting system are needed to improve patient safety quality.
