This research aimed to analyze the sustainable development strategies for the
pineapple chips small and medium industry in Kampar Regency. The study was
conducted at the pineapple chips small and medium industry in Kualu Nenas
Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The research
employed observation with both qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive
approaches. The qualitative descriptive method was used to identify the internal and
external factors affecting the pineapple chips small and medium industry, as well as
to analyze the waste utilization scheme from pineapple chips production. The
quantitative descriptive method was applied to calculate the scores of the Internal
Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE). The results showed
that the internal factor score was 1.292 and the external factor score was 1.375,
indicating that the pineapple chips small and medium industry is positioned in
Quadrant I (aggressive strategy) of the SWOT matrix. Strategic recommendations
for the pineapple chips small and medium industry included an S-O (Strengths-
Opportunities) strategy, which focused on increasing production capacity,
expanding the market, and diversifying the waste generated from pineapple chips
production. The waste utilization scheme helped identify the potential value of byproducts
such as pineapple peels, crowns, cores, residual soaking water, and used
cooking oil, which could be turned into economically valuable products while also
contributing to environmental sustainability.
