Pemanfaatan Limbah Buah Ketapang (Terminalia Catappa L.) Sebagai Adsorben Pada Limbah Cair Laundry
ABSTRACT
The increase in the number of laundry services will be directly proportional to the amount of liquid waste generated at the end of the activity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective and environmentally friendly waste treatment methods. The adsorption process is still the best choice for liquid waste treatment, especially if it uses environmentally friendly adsorbents, for example by utilizing adsorbents from biomass such as the fruit of the ketapang plant (Terminalia catappa L.). This study aims to utilize chemically activated ketapang fruit powder using HCl 0.1 N and NaOH 0.1 N solutions. From the adsorption results, the decrease in pH, TDS and TSS values from laundry liquid waste will be tested. The moisture content of ketapang fruit powder activated with NaOH and HCl was 9% and 10%, respectively. Variations in adsorbent activation, flow rate and bed height affect the decrease in TDS and TSS values as well as waste pH values. In the pH and TDS tests, the best results were obtained in the use of adsorbents activated with NaOH using a flow rate of 5 mL/min and a bed height of 20 cm of 7.04 and 193 ppm. Meanwhile, in the TSS test, the best absorbance results were at the activation of HCl with a flow rate of 5 mL/min with a bed height of 10 cm of 0.0182.
