This research is motivated by the development of information and
communication technology today. Currently, political participation in Indonesia is
undergoing several significant changes. Political participation in Indonesia has
experienced a significant increase, dominated by young people. One product of this
technological development is the large number of TikTok users, a social media
platform with diverse content, especially political content that frequently appears on
the homepage, often referred to as FYP (For Your Page), during the 2024 presidential
election. The majority of TikTok users are young people. This phenomenon raises
important questions about the extent to which the use of political content on TikTok
can influence political participation.
This study aims to determine whether there is an Influence of TikTok's Use of
Political Content on the Political Participation of Students of the Pancasila and
Citizenship Education Study Program at the University of Riau in the 2024
Presidential Election. The benefit of this study is expected to provide and expand
knowledge about the influence of TikTok's use of political content on political
participation in students of the PPKn study program at the University of Riau in the
2024 Presidential Election. It is also expected to share information about the
application of participation in the political field through the new media era. And the

researcher hopes that the results of this study can be used as reference material for
further research.
The research method used in this study is a quantitative method with a
descriptive approach. This research was conducted at the Pancasila and Citizenship
Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of
Riau, located at the Bina Widya Campus KM 12.5 Simpang Baru, Pekanbaru. In this
study, the author used a closed-ended questionnaire as a research instrument with 24
statements. The population in this study were all active students of the 2021, 2022,
and 2023 intakes of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Faculty
of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. The determination of the
number of samples used a significance level of 10% of the entire population using the
Slovin formula and obtained a sample of 70 students of the Pancasila and Citizenship
Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of
Riau.
From the results of data analysis in this study, there is a positive and
significant influence between the use of TikTok political content on the political
participation of students of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education study program at
the University of Riau in the 2024 Presidential Election. This shows that F count
39.475 > t table 3.98. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is
accepted, so that the use of TikTok Political Content (X) on the Political Participation
of PPKn Students (Y) is 36.7% and the remaining 63.3% is due to the influence of
other factors not examined in this study.
