This research was conducted due to the background of low student responsibility character, as seen from the phenomena faced by students in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities at school. The research problem formulated in this study is whether there is an influence of peer groups on the formation of responsibility character among Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an influence of peer groups on the formation of responsibility character among Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya. The benefits of this research are to contribute theoretical insights and ideas regarding the learning difficulties experienced by students in understanding character formation, and to broaden the writer’s perspective as a prospective teacher who will later be involved in the field of education. For teachers, the results of this study can serve as a basis or feedback in addressing issues related to the development of responsibility character.
This research uses a quantitative approach. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya, located at Jalan Pelajar No. 08, Muaro Sentajo, Sentajo Raya District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. In this study, the researcher used a questionnaire as the research instrument, consisting of 27 questions. The population of this study included all Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya, totaling 86 students. The sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique (census), resulting in a sample of 86 Grade XI students.

The results of the data analysis show that there is a positive and significant influence of peer groups on the formation of responsibility character among Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya. This is evidenced by the t-count value of 4.784 ≥ t-table value of 1.9886 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, indicating that peer groups (X) have a significant influence on the formation of responsibility character (Y) in Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sentajo Raya. The results of the coefficient of determination analysis indicate that peer group influence (X) accounts for 21.4% of the variation in the formation of responsibility character (Y), while the remaining 78.6% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
