Pengaruh Model Role Playing Terhadap Pembelajaran Teks Cerpen Siswa Kelas IX SMP Kartika 1-5 Pekanbaru
Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of the role playing learning model on students’ abilities in learning short story texts in Grade IX at SMP Kartika 1-5 Pekanbaru. The background of this research is based on the low student achievement in short story learning, which has not yet met the Minimum Learning Mastery Criteria (KKTP). This research employed an experimental method using a pretest-posttest only control group design. The sample consisted of two randomly selected classes: the experimental class, which applied the role playing model, and the control class, which used a conventional learning model. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test, and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and regression tests.
The results showed a significant improvement in students' abilities to learn short story texts after the implementation of the role playing model. The average score of the experimental class increased from 66 in the pre-test to 89.29 in the post- test. Statistical tests revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Thus, the role playing model has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning of short story texts. This model enhances students’ understanding of the structure and intrinsic elements of short stories through active engagement in role-playing activities.
