Pengaruh Konsentrasi Crude Tanin Ekstrak Kulit Buah Manggis Terhadap Laju Korosi Baja Aisi 4140 Pada Air Laut
Corrosion is a metal reduction due to a chemical reaction of a metal with its environment. One way to reduce the rate of corrosion is by the addition of the inhibitor. The mangosteen rind contains tannins that can be used as an inhibitor. This research aims to know the value of the rate of metal corrosion inhibitor skin extracts using mangosteen. Sokletasi is used to extract tannin from the bark of fruit mangosteen using solvents of ethanol-water 1:2. The results of the qualitative test using FeCl3 proves the presence of tannins in the skin extract of mangosteen and quantitative test results using the method of Folin-Cio Calteu produced concentration crude tannin 586 ppm. The value of the rate of corrosion inhibitor without soaking in 5 days of 0,2151 mm years, with the addition of inhibitors of 0,0717 mm 10 ppm, and using an inhibitor of 20 ppm of 0,0359 mm years. Inhibition efficiency of the extract highest mangosteen rind on soaking 35 days of 88,9. The results of this research with the soaking of 5 days to 35 days the rate of corrosion is getting smaller, and the greater the concentration of the inhibitor then the rate of corrosion is also getting smaller.
