The purposed of this studied was to defermine : (1) the level of creative thinking ability and critical thinking of students using a combination model NHT-STAD, (2) differencess i the ability to think creatively and students’ critical thinking among students with the highst average by students avrage class lowest. Population were all of students of class X of SMAN 1 Kubu Babussalam academic year 2015/2016. Samples taken with purposive sampling technique, sample were class with the highest average grades and class with the lowest average value. Analysis of the data used in the studed were using bivariate analysis were performed on two variabel to know the difference. The test used was in the mann whitney test. Acording to data analysis, the result of served the following : (1) the level of students’ creative and ciritical thinking ability of each meeting has increased both the lowest average class, and (2) there are different levels of ability to thought creatively and critically thinking students advance of the class with the students highest average lowest average, this could be seen from the results of mann whitney test where students have the critical thinking skills sig 0,000 < 0,05 and creative thinking abilities of students has value sig 0,002
