Pembuatan Gel Etanol Menggunakan Gelling Agent Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (Cmc) Dengan Variasi Konsentrasi Etanol Dan Cmc
Ethanol gel is ethanol with the phscycal form of a gel. Ethanol gel has several advantages compared to solid fuel paraffin that is renewable, during combustion does not smoke, does not cause soot, does not produce harmful gases, noncarcinogenic and noncorrosive. The purpose of this study is to obtain a concentration of carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) as a thickener and the appropriate concentration of ethanol in the gel formulation of ethanol as a fuel. In this research, manufacture ethanol using ethanol gel with the content of 85%, 90% and 95% and carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) as a thickener with the content of 1,6 gram, 1,8 gram and 2,0 gram. The best results were obtained based on viscosity, calorific value and combustion residues with 95 % ethanol concentration and addition of CMC 2.0 gram having a viscosity of 27800 cP, combustion residues 11,8%, calorific value of 11, 545.139 kJ / Kg.
